Can a stronger pill keep skin infection patients out of the hospital?

NCT ID NCT05852262

Summary

This study is testing whether a higher dose of the common oral antibiotic cephalexin is better than the standard dose for treating cellulitis, a common and painful skin infection. It involves 446 adults who visit the emergency department and are sent home with pills. The main goal is to see if the higher dose reduces treatment failure, preventing the need for stronger IV antibiotics or a return hospital visit.
