Monthly MRI reveals hidden brain bleeding patterns in elderly
NCT ID NCT06128824
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study uses monthly MRI scans to closely watch brain changes in 75 people with cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), a condition common in older adults that can cause bleeding and strokes. Researchers aim to understand how small bleeds and silent strokes develop over time. Participants will have monthly imaging for up to a year to track these changes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help doctors better predict and manage bleeding and stroke risks in people with cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not lead to immediate changes in care, and results may not apply to all patients.
