New shot aims to tame hepatitis b virus
NCT ID NCT07519330
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new biologic drug called HH-006 in 45 adults with chronic hepatitis B. Participants receive injections for 48 weeks, and researchers track how well the drug lowers hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) levels. The goal is to see if the drug can control the infection and possibly lead to HBsAg loss.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
HH-006 (a biologic drug given as injection)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a way to control chronic hepatitis B by lowering or clearing the virus surface antigen, potentially reducing long-term liver damage.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase II trial with only 45 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug may not work as hoped, and side effects are still being studied.
