New study tests better breathing support for heart failure patients after ventilator

NCT ID NCT06671015

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looks at two ways to help heart failure patients breathe after a breathing tube is removed. It compares high-flow nasal cannula (a device that delivers warm, moist oxygen through the nose) with noninvasive ventilation (a mask that helps push air into the lungs). The goal is to see which method better prevents the need for another breathing tube or breathing failure. About 50 adults with weak heart pumping function will take part.
