New hope for breast cancer patients: drug may prevent dangerous drop in blood cells during chemo

NCT ID NCT07647029

First seen Jun 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether the drug hetrombopag can help prevent low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) caused by chemotherapy in breast cancer patients who are at high risk for this side effect. About 126 participants will be split into three groups: one getting no preventive drug, and two getting different schedules of hetrombopag. The goal is to see if the drug can reduce the chance of severe platelet drops and help patients complete their chemotherapy on time.
