New stitching technique could prevent painful hernias after major cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT04982653

Summary

This study compares two different surgical stitching methods used to close the abdominal wall after liver tumor removal surgery. Researchers want to see if a newer 'small bite' stitching technique can better prevent incisional hernias (a hole or bulge in the abdominal wall) than the traditional method. About 140 adult patients having planned liver surgery will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two closure techniques and followed for one year to check for hernia development.
