Ancient herbal remedy tested as safer alternative for heart failure swelling

NCT ID NCT04691700

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a traditional Japanese herbal medicine called Goreisan to standard heart failure treatment helps reduce dangerous fluid buildup better than standard treatment alone. The trial involves about 1,200 adults hospitalized with worsening heart failure and visible swelling. Researchers want to see if this herbal addition can relieve fluid retention with fewer side effects than current water pills.
