New study reveals hidden breast cancer subtype in thousands of patients

NCT ID NCT06131424

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study reviewed medical records of over 1,100 adults with advanced breast cancer that was previously labeled HER2-negative. Researchers re-tested old tumor samples to find out how many actually have HER2-low cancer, a subtype that may respond to newer targeted therapies. The goal was to better understand patient traits, treatment patterns, and outcomes in regions where this information was lacking.
