Doctors checked for hidden liver risk in COVID steroid treatment

NCT ID NCT07154212

Summary

This study looked at whether doctors followed guidelines to screen for hepatitis B in COVID-19 pneumonia patients before giving them steroid treatment. Researchers wanted to see if this hidden liver virus could reactivate and cause problems during COVID-19 care. They observed nearly 1,800 hospitalized adults who needed oxygen and received steroids for their COVID-19 pneumonia.
