Stroke imaging side effect: can a simple shot keep arteries open?

NCT ID NCT07162064

Summary

This study is testing if giving a blood-thinning medication (heparin) during a common imaging test for stroke can prevent a frequent complication where the wrist artery used for the test gets blocked. The trial will enroll 440 recent stroke patients to see if this approach is both effective at keeping the artery open and safe, without increasing the risk of bleeding in the brain. It's a large, carefully controlled study designed to provide clear guidance for doctors.
