Simple dressing could prevent painful scars after skin grafts

NCT ID NCT07196358

Summary

This study tested whether applying a gauze dressing soaked with heparin, a common medication, could help prevent thick, raised scars and reduce pain at the site where skin is taken for grafts. In 400 patients, researchers compared a standard dressing on one skin donor site to a heparin dressing on another site on the same person. They tracked healing, pain levels, and scar formation over three months to see if this low-cost method improved results.
