New Artery-Blocking procedure could replace painful hemorrhoid surgery

NCT ID NCT05697562

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study compares a new minimally invasive treatment called superior rectal arterial embolization (SRAE) to standard procedures for controlling bleeding from hemorrhoids. SRAE blocks the blood supply to hemorrhoids without cutting or damaging the anal area. The trial will enroll 80 adults with grade I-III hemorrhoids and significant bleeding to see if SRAE works as well as the usual treatments, with fewer side effects.
