First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at a new way to help mental health providers prescribe smoking cessation medications to veterans with serious mental illness (SMI). Veterans with SMI smoke at much higher rates and die earlier, but few get the help they need. The study will test if a support program called external facilitation can increase the number of veterans who receive these safe and effective medications.
