Could a common stomach bug cause deadly bile duct cancer?

NCT ID NCT06909188

Summary

This study aims to understand if infections from Helicobacter bacteria (like the kind that can cause stomach ulcers) are linked to cancers of the bile ducts and gallbladder. Researchers will compare the presence of these bacteria in tissue samples from 250 people: those with bile duct cancer, those with non-cancerous bile duct disease, those at high risk, and healthy donors. The goal is to see if the bacteria are found more often in people with cancer, which could help identify a new risk factor.
