New surgery aims to fix stubborn heel pain without cutting the tendon

NCT ID NCT07436923

Summary

This study is testing a surgery that cuts and shifts the heel bone to relieve tension on a painful foot tendon, aiming to reduce pain without cutting the tendon itself. It is for adults with long-term plantar fasciitis (heel pain) that hasn't gotten better with at least 6 months of other treatments like physical therapy or shoe inserts. Researchers will measure changes in foot pain and function over 12 months to see if this approach works better and has fewer side effects than standard tendon-release surgery.
