Scientists test how much heat older women can take

NCT ID NCT07032493

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at how older women (65+) handle extreme heat and humidity. As climate change brings more heat waves, researchers want to find the exact point where the body can no longer cool itself, which can lead to heat stroke. Twelve women will rest in a hot room while humidity slowly rises, and their body temperature is tracked. The goal is to better understand heat risks for older women and improve safety guidelines.
