Army researchers hunt for heat stroke warning signs in soldiers
NCT ID NCT06907225
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study observes 150 military personnel during high-risk training events like ruck marches and timed runs to understand heat stress. Researchers will collect blood, urine, and body temperature data before, during, and after exercise. The goal is to find biomarkers that could predict heat stroke risk and guide recovery and return-to-duty decisions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could identify early warning signs for heat stroke and help improve recovery and return-to-duty decisions for soldiers.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not find clear biomarkers, and results may not apply to non-military populations.
