Can a hearing aid keep veterans out of the ER?

NCT ID NCT05028972

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether giving Veterans who have trouble hearing a small personal amplifier in the emergency room can help them understand their discharge instructions better and lower their chances of coming back to the ER within 3 or 30 days. About 1,050 Veterans from six VA emergency departments will take part. The study also checks if ER staff can successfully run this program on their own.
