Nurses with no ultrasound training can capture heart images using new software
NCT ID NCT05874128
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tested whether nurses with no prior ultrasound experience could use HeartFocus software to take heart ultrasound pictures good enough for doctors to analyze. 240 patients each had two heart ultrasounds: one by a nurse using the software and one by an expert. Cardiologists then compared the quality of the images. The goal was to see if the software could help non-experts get useful heart images.
