Doctors map the heart to spot hidden infections
NCT ID NCT03683355
Summary
This study aimed to understand what normal imaging looks like around new, non-infected heart valves. Researchers scanned 30 patients who had recently received a new aortic valve to see how a special tracer shows up on images. The goal was to create a baseline so doctors can better distinguish normal healing from a dangerous infection called endocarditis in future patients.
