Doctors probe hidden link in heart surgery times to predict patient recovery

NCT ID NCT06873620

Summary

This study aimed to understand if a specific ratio of two key surgical times could predict complications after open heart surgery. Researchers observed 348 patients undergoing planned, on-pump heart surgery. They measured the time the heart-lung machine was used versus the time the heart was stopped to see if this ratio was linked to recovery problems.
