Doctors probe hidden blood flow changes in heart surgery to stop kidney failure

NCT ID NCT06009809

Summary

This study aims to understand how blood flow to the kidneys and intestines changes during heart-lung bypass surgery. Researchers will use a special ultrasound probe to measure blood speed in these organs in 92 patients undergoing planned heart surgery. The goal is to see if changes in blood flow during the operation can help predict who is at risk for serious kidney damage or gut problems after surgery.
