Blue dye in blood wash may ease heart surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT07212842

Summary

This study tested if adding a blue dye called methylene blue to a blood-cleaning process during heart surgery could help patients. The goal was to see if this method reduced harmful fluid buildup and body-wide inflammation after surgery. Researchers compared the new method against standard care in 124 adults undergoing heart surgery with a heart-lung machine.
