Heart surgery blood thinner showdown: which is safer?
NCT ID NCT04284839
Summary
This study aims to find out which type of blood thinner is safer for patients in the first month after heart surgery when they need protection from strokes due to atrial fibrillation. It will compare newer direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) with the older standard, vitamin K antagonists (like warfarin), in 3,500 patients. The main goal is to see which medication causes fewer serious bleeding problems while still preventing strokes.
