Anesthesia choice may protect hearts during surgery
NCT ID NCT02851433
Summary
This study compared two different anesthesia methods during scheduled heart valve replacement surgery to see which better protects the heart muscle from stress and damage. Researchers measured troponin levels (a marker of heart stress) in 82 patients who received either sevoflurane gas anesthesia or propofol intravenous anesthesia. The goal was to determine if one method provides better heart protection during and after surgery.
