Can a common blood pressure drug boost heart efficiency?

NCT ID NCT05593055

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 27, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a drug that blocks a certain hormone (mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist) can improve blood flow to the heart and make the heart pump more efficiently in people with high blood pressure and a thickened heart muscle. About 75 adults with these conditions will be randomly assigned to receive either the study drug or a standard diuretic. The goal is to see if the drug helps the heart work better and reduces strain.
