Heart ultrasound may predict bypass machine weaning trouble

NCT ID NCT07390903

First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special heart ultrasound measurement, called global longitudinal strain (GLS), can predict if a person will have a hard time coming off the heart-lung machine during heart surgery. Researchers will follow 213 adults having planned heart surgery and track their recovery. The goal is to see if GLS can help doctors prepare for and manage this critical step, potentially leading to safer surgeries.
