Heart treatment showdown: balloon vs. stent in major trial

Summary
This large international study compares two common treatments for clogged heart arteries. Over 3,300 patients with coronary artery disease will receive either a drug-coated balloon (which delivers medication and is often removed) or a permanent drug-eluting stent. The main goal is to see if the balloon approach works as well as stents at preventing serious heart problems over 1 to 5 years.
