Heart study finds better way to place Life-Saving stents
NCT ID NCT01496638
Summary
This study compared two approaches for placing stents in blocked heart arteries that have important side branches. Researchers tested whether placing stents in both the main artery and side branch immediately was better than placing one stent first and only adding a second if needed. The trial involved 450 patients with coronary artery disease and found the two-stent approach reduced serious heart complications.
