Double pump for a failing heart: can two devices boost recovery?

NCT ID NCT03431467

Summary

This study tested if adding a small heart pump (Impella CP) to a standard life-support machine (VA-ECMO) helps people with severe cardiogenic shock. The goal was to see if this combined approach helps the heart rest and recover better, allowing patients to survive without needing a transplant or long-term support devices. The trial was stopped early and only enrolled 17 participants.
