Could a simple scan reveal hidden heart danger in diabetics?

NCT ID NCT01794091

Summary

This study aimed to see if a special type of heart MRI scan could identify people with type 2 diabetes who are at the highest risk for heart attacks or heart failure. Researchers planned to scan patients and then follow them for five years to see if the amount of scar tissue seen on the scan was linked to future heart problems. The goal was to find a better way to target treatments to those who need them most, but the study was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
