Heart check during lung crisis could save lives

Summary
This study is testing if adding a heart specialist to the hospital care team for people admitted with a COPD flare-up helps find and treat hidden heart problems. Patients are randomly assigned to see either just their lung doctor or both their lung doctor and a heart doctor during their stay. Researchers will then follow all patients for a year to see if the extra heart check leads to better treatment and fewer heart or lung problems later on.
