Could a blood pressure drug help babies' hearts heal themselves?

NCT ID NCT04713657

Summary

This study is testing whether propranolol, a medication already used in infants for other conditions, can help stimulate the growth of new heart muscle cells in babies born with serious heart defects. Researchers will enroll 40 infants under 60 days old who have tetralogy of Fallot or similar conditions and are scheduled for surgery. They'll examine heart tissue removed during surgery to see if the medication increased cell growth, which could lead to better long-term heart function.
