First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at 110 knee replacement patients to see if heart rate variability (a measure of nervous system activity) can predict sudden, severe pain after nerve blocks wear off. Researchers measured heart rate before and after surgery and tracked pain levels. The goal is to help doctors personalize pain treatment after knee surgery.
