Heart CT prep: which drug slows your pulse fastest?
NCT ID NCT07268170
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tests three common heart-rate-lowering drugs (metoprolol, atenolol, and ivabradine) to see which one works fastest in people aged 30 to 80 who need a cardiac CT scan. About 350 participants with a resting heart rate above 65 beats per minute will receive one of the drugs, and researchers will measure how quickly their heart rate drops. The goal is to find the best option for getting clear CT images without needing extra medication.
