Summary

This study tested a smartphone-based breathing exercise called heart rate variability biofeedback (HRVB) for people with substance use disorder. 120 adults in early recovery used the app to practice slow, rhythmic breathing for 15 minutes daily. The goal was to see if this technique could help reduce cravings, improve mood, and support abstinence from alcohol and other drugs.
