Heart pump trial aims to rescue patients from severe shock

NCT ID NCT06965504

Summary

This study is testing if using a temporary heart pump (Impella 5.5) can help doctors safely start and increase the doses of four key heart failure medications in patients who are critically ill with heart failure shock. The goal is to see if this combined approach helps the heart recover during the hospital stay and for up to a year after discharge. The study will include about 60 adults with weakened heart function who are not yet on the full recommended medication regimen.
