Could a temporary heart pump make risky artery procedures safer?

NCT ID NCT07380217

First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using a temporary mechanical heart pump during high-risk angioplasty (a procedure to open blocked heart arteries) improves safety for people with weak hearts. About 98 adults with severe coronary artery disease and reduced heart function will be enrolled. The pump is inserted through the groin to help the heart pump blood during the procedure, but it also carries its own risks. The goal is to see if the pump reduces serious complications like death, shock, or organ failure.
