Study scrapped before launch: aimed to spot hidden risk in common heart treatment

NCT ID NCT07127900

Summary

This study was planned to learn more about a rare side effect of a heart treatment for atrial fibrillation. The treatment, called pulsed field ablation (PFA), can rarely injure a nerve that controls the diaphragm, a key breathing muscle. The study would have used simple chest X-rays before and after the procedure to check for this issue, but it was withdrawn before any patients were enrolled.
