Heart plug tested for stroke patients who Can't take blood thinners

NCT ID NCT03111654

Summary

This study tested a heart procedure for people with an irregular heartbeat who have had a serious brain bleed. Because these patients cannot safely take standard blood-thinning medications to prevent strokes, doctors tested a device that plugs a small pouch in the heart where clots often form. The research compared the long-term stroke risk in patients who received this device against those who received standard medical care.
