Heart attack prevention: do stents beat pills for hidden plaque danger?

NCT ID NCT06855537

Summary

This study aims to find the best way to treat 'vulnerable plaques' in heart arteries that haven't yet caused major blockages. Researchers will compare placing a stent (a tiny mesh tube) plus strong medication against medication alone in 2,190 people who recently had a heart-related event. The goal is to see if adding the stent procedure further reduces future heart attacks, deaths, or hospital visits compared to just using optimal drug therapy.
