Sticky heart patch could stop dangerous Post-Surgery heart rhythms

NCT ID NCT06722196

Summary

This study is testing whether placing a special biodegradable patch soaked with a heart medication directly on the heart during surgery can prevent a common and serious irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation (AFib) that often occurs after heart surgery. The trial will involve 500 patients undergoing planned heart surgery. Researchers will compare the rate of AFib in patients who receive the medicated patch to those who do not.
