Summary
This study looked at whether adding a special pacemaker (called biventricular pacing) to an implantable defibrillator can help people who have both permanent atrial fibrillation and heart failure. The goal was to see if this treatment could shrink an enlarged heart, improve its pumping ability, and reduce symptoms like shortness of breath and swelling. The study enrolled 200 adults with moderate heart failure symptoms who were already candidates for a defibrillator.
