Heart risk hidden in leg surgery: new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07241572

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a sensitive blood test (high-sensitive troponin I) can spot heart muscle damage in patients having below-knee surgery with a nerve block. Researchers will measure troponin levels during surgery and at 24 and 48 hours after. The goal is to better understand heart risks in these patients, not to test a new treatment.
