Can a heart valve fix reverse heart damage? new imaging study seeks answers

NCT ID NCT07335900

Summary

This study aims to understand if a minimally invasive heart valve replacement procedure (TAVI) can help reverse scarring and structural changes in the heart muscle of patients with severe aortic stenosis. Researchers will use a special type of PET scan to measure heart scarring before and after the procedure in about 25 patients, comparing them to patients who only receive medication. The goal is to gather knowledge about how fixing the valve affects the heart's recovery, not to test a new treatment.
