Mind over meds: simple reflection tested to boost heart pill routine
NCT ID NCT05575375
Summary
This small, completed pilot study tested whether a brief psychological exercise could help older adults with heart failure stick to their medication schedule. 43 participants in a cardiac rehab program were randomly assigned to either try a 'values affirmation' activity alongside their usual care or just continue with usual care. The main goal was to see if the study procedures and the brief reflection exercise were practical and acceptable to patients, not to prove it worked.
