New implant offers hope for failing hearts

NCT ID NCT05592392

Summary

This small pilot study tested a new implanted device designed to help people with chronic heart failure. The device gently stimulates the diaphragm muscle in sync with the heartbeat, aiming to improve how the heart fills and pumps blood. Researchers compared 35 patients who received the active device to a control group to see if it safely improved heart function, walking ability, and quality of life over six months.
