Heart procedure aims to cut hospital visits for common heart condition

Summary

This study is testing if a medical procedure can help people with two common heart problems: heart failure with a strong heart pump and permanent atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). Researchers want to see if a procedure that regulates the heartbeat, combined with a pacemaker, works better than standard medications at keeping people out of the hospital and improving survival. The study will involve 266 participants who will be randomly assigned to receive either the procedure or continue with optimized drug therapy and followed for two years.
