Heart rate reset: new trial tests procedure to tame chaotic heartbeat in heart failure

NCT ID NCT05029570

Summary

This study is testing if a medical procedure is better than standard medications for people with a specific type of heart failure and a permanent irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation). The procedure involves implanting a special pacemaker and then using a minor ablation to regulate the heart rate. Researchers will compare this approach to optimized medication therapy to see which one better prevents death, heart failure hospitalizations, or worsening symptoms over three years.
