Heart study tests new way to decide which blockages need treatment
NCT ID NCT07324720
Summary
This study aims to find the best way to decide which blocked heart arteries need treatment in high-risk patients. It will compare two strategies: one that looks at the size and stability of the fatty buildup (plaque) inside the artery, and another that measures how much the blockage reduces blood flow to the heart muscle. About 1,944 patients with significant heart artery narrowing will be randomly assigned to one of these decision-making approaches, and their heart health will be tracked for two years.
